Laurence Pinckney, a Philly original

18 08 2010

Laurence Pinckney has a long history of working with LGBT communities. Though originally from Philadelphia, PA, he’s established NYC as his home and maintained a busy schedule producing some of the hottest social events. The short list includes: Black Pride NYC from 2001-2005, Dominican Island Heat I and II, Bahian Heat, and The Nubian Dreams Cruise 1, 2 AND 3.

He recently contacted the Archivists Society to congratulate us on the Blog launch, and to tell us about two productions in NY that sound really interesting.

Driving Miss Daisy is on Broadway, and featuring two-time Tony Award® winner and Academy Award® nominee James Earl Jones, and Tony Award and Academy Award winner Vanessa Redgrave. Click here for ticket information. The show opens in September 2010.

The second production is Daniel Beaty’s Through the Night. According to the website: “Daniel Beaty is one of the most extraordinary young artists of our time. His signature style of storytelling weaves together a thrilling blend of humor, poetry, music, and drama that makes this an astonishing evening of theater full of possibility and hope. Click here for ticket information. It runs throughout September.
